Winter update
Written by Show Dad on January 25th, 2009It’s been an interesting start to 2009. We met the vet out at the farm on the first Sunday night of 2009 for an emergency farm call. Skip had a 103+ fever – not good. The blood test returned Lyme’s as the problem. Luckily, we caught it on the first day Skip was symptomatic. Also, the vet didn’t wait around for 2 days on the blood test results to take action. He started Skip on antibiotics immediately. And when I say we I mean the wonderful folks at Majestic Meadow where Skip lives. They noticed that something was wrong at feeding time and called us immediately.
So now 22 days later and Skip has just come off antibiotics. He seems to be pretty much back to normal so I’m hopeful that we dodged this bullet.

that must have been dreadful for you! I’m very pleased to hear you caught it in time and that Skip’s feeling better.

I am very glad that skip is better. I wish I could say the same thing about our barn.
The owners are not on site any longer and they feeders don’t speak much English. So they don’t call if an animal is down or shows signs of not being right.
I have seen days with out water when I was hanging around before I married my barn girl.
Great to here skip is fine.
