Delaney has learned that Britches loves to jump. She’s been training him at least once a week and I think he loves her as much as Skip does. Whenever she calls him to come out of the pasture, he trots up as fast as he possibly can. He’s just so darn cute!!!!

She and her Junior team got a 2nd place on the written, 6th place in stations and a 2nd place in High Point team. There were 18 Junior teams with 3 to 4 kids on each team, so there were a lot of kids.

This is Britches who is a miniature horse and is Delaney’s new training project. She is beginning to do ground work with him and training him to be a nice mannered child’s pony. He can jump barrels, drive a cart plus Delaney wants to teach him all the tricks for doing in hand trail obstacles too. Skippy caught Delaney working with Britches today and was nickering at her, “Like what are you doing with him?” It was cute, but don’t worry because Skip got his time with her too.

It’s been an interesting start to 2009. We met the vet out at the farm on the first Sunday night of 2009 for an emergency farm call. Skip had a 103+ fever – not good. The blood test returned Lyme’s as the problem. Luckily, we caught it on the first day Skip was symptomatic. Also, the vet didn’t wait around for 2 days on the blood test results to take action. He started Skip on antibiotics immediately. And when I say we I mean the wonderful folks at Majestic Meadow where Skip lives. They noticed that something was wrong at feeding time and called us immediately.
So now 22 days later and Skip has just come off antibiotics. He seems to be pretty much back to normal so I’m hopeful that we dodged this bullet.

She had been eying this grooming set for a while. She won it, so I don’t have to buy it for her!

Next year, use reindeer, not horses. They are less likely to spook at bright lights.
